Massive water spill closes Club’s doors
Updated 10:37 a.m.: Employee Riley Whipkey was the first into the gym this morning at 5:15 a.m. He said there was 6-8″ of standing water throughout the club, below the front desk and Bistro levels.
Owner Ralph Lockhart said the Club will be closed for several days at the very least. He was on the phone with the insurance adjuster when The Sheet reached him just before 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday.
Approximately one million gallons of water flooded Snowcreek Athletic Club in Mammoth Lakes last night. When an employee arrived to open the Club early on the morning of Nov. 6 there was 6-8 inches of standing water throughout the first floor.
The Mammoth Community Water District reported a drop in water pressure at approximately 3:24 a.m.
Reportedly the water was to the ceiling in the gym’s laundry room. Hard courts such as the basketball and racquetball courts are submerged as well.
The Club is closed until further notice. The cause of the water spill is still being determined.
