Northstar-at-Tahoe held the 2014 California Nevada Interscholastic Ski and Snowboard Federation (CNISSF) State Championships March 3-6.

Thirteen Mammoth High School skiers: Hayden Mannetter, Tim Wolfe, Sierra Gilfoy, Lynn Regelbrugge, Chelsea Foulke, Kyra McKee, Torrey Patrie, Sabrina Clevenger, Griffin Covert, Everest Webber, Ryan Foulke, Russell Malm and Nathan Everson were named to the team. Unfortunately, Foulke and Malm were unable to attend due to the last minute rescheduling and relocating of the three U16 SG races to Mammoth. Meanwhile, an injury forced Everson to withdraw.

Ten Snowboard athletes: Tyler Searles, Candice Berger, Sam Hein, Sabrina Wilson, Edwin Molina, Julia Cage, Tyler Wagner, Kenny Schreiber, Nathan Liuag, Fleur Connolly also traveled to Northstar.

By Tuesday evening the Mammoth High School skiers had won first place for the CNISSF Women’s South Two Division; first place for the CNISSF Combined South Two Division; and first place overall for the state in the CNISSF Women’s Team Ski Championship. Helping bring home the state title for the women were Sierra Gilfoy, third in slalom and first in the GS; Chelsea Foulke, sixth in SL and third in GS; Kyra McKee, 10th in the slalom and Lynn Regelbrugge, 11 in the GS.

Unfortunately for Mammoth, it could not defend its 2013 State Combined Team Championship, finishing a very close second to Davis High School.

As of press time, the Husky Snowboard Team, had only finished the GS portion of the Championships, but in that event Mammoth’s Fleur Connolly took first place. We’ll have full race results in next week’s paper.
