Fred and Darla Howley

Frederick Anthony Howley passed away at his Mammoth Lakes home on July 4, 2018, following a prolonged struggle with advanced pulmonary hypertension. Fred was 87 years old.

Born January 3, 1931 in Boston and raised in Los Angeles, Fred attended high school at L.A. High and served in the military during the Korean War.

At the age of 7, he saw his first Notre Dame–USC fist fight where a football game broke out. Notre Dame won and he became a lifelong Irish football fanatic.

In 1955, he met and married Darla Howley, the love of his life for more than 60 years. Fred loved real estate, and was one of the early pioneers in the emerging mortgage securitization industry, retiring in 1993 as a senior executive at Western Federal Savings in Marina del Rey.
