GUARDIANS OF THE COFFERS

  • by Mike Bodine

The elected official in Inyo County whose job it is to care for the sick who have no one else to care for them, is getting flak from the Inyo County Grand Jury for not billing more and making the county more money.

The responsibility of the Inyo County Public Guardian/Public Administrator, Patricia Barton, is to provide care for those under her conservatorship and to ensure estates are not damaged while the wishes of the decedents are followed.

Conservatorships are granted through the courts, and the county representative takes responsibility for managing a person’s finances and personal affairs when there is no other responsible person, like a family member.
