Click it or ticket
Buckle up, hang up your phone and avoid a ticket. The Mammoth Lakes Police Department, along with numerous other state and national agencies, will be participating in the Click It or Ticket mobilization Nov. 15-28. Properly restrained drivers, passengers and children have a 50 percent better chance of surviving a crash. Those ejected from vehicles in crashes or rollovers are up to 35 times more likely to die than restrained occupants.
All occupants in a vehicle are required to properly wear a seat belt. The passenger AND driver can BOTH receive a citation. The MLPD will also participate in the California Office of Traffic Safety’s “Hang Up and Drive” campaign, which focuses on enforcing California’s cell phone and texting laws. If you are stopped for not wearing your seatbelt or talking on a cell phone without using a hands free device, expect to receive a citation.
For additional information the various laws, contact Officer David Scobie at 760.934.2011, ext 55, or e-mail dscobie@mammothlakespd.org.
