Harris sentencing continued

According to the Mono County Superior Court, Michael Harris’ sentencing, which was scheduled for Friday, Jan. 22, has been continued at this time for several reasons. First, Judge David DeVore, a resident of Alpine County, did not want to make the drive in the heavy snow that had fallen in the past week. Secondly, motions have been filed by the defense, possibly for a new trial. A hearing is scheduled for Friday, Jan. 29 in Bridgeport for the Court to hear these motions. The Court stated that depending on what happens at that hearing, sentencing could be delayed for quite awhile.

On Dec. 11, 2009, the jury in the case of People v. Harris found Harris guilty of 18 counts of lewd and lascivious acts against a minor, and one count of rape against a child under the age of 14.
