Get in on Caltrans act

Caltrans District 9 Director Tom Hallenbeck extends an invitation to prime/general contractors, subcontractors, suppliers and small businesses to attend an informational   meeting on upcoming and currently advertised projects in District 9.

The meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, March 16, from 1:30-2:30 p.m. in the Caltrans District 9 Office, 500 S. Main St. in Bishop.

This meeting’s objective is to provide information on how local small businesses can connect with Prime/General contractors bidding on Caltrans construction projects. Information and staff will be available during the meeting to answer questions on becoming a certified Small Business Enterprise (SBE), Disabled Veteran Business Enterprise (DVBE) or an Underutilized/Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (U/DBE) with the state of California.

Quilters in stitches

The “Quilters in Stitches” crafting group are donating a handmade, full-sized quilt to be raffled off at this year’s ICARE Fundraising Dinner on April 17 at the Tri County Fairgrounds.

Quilt raffle tickets are only $1 each, or 6 for $5, are on sale at Spellbinder Books and Radio Shack in Bishop, as well as most weekends at the Vons Bishop location.

Proceeds from raffle ticket sales benefit the Eastern Sierra cats and dogs in need via ICARE’s various animal welfare programs. More info on these programs can be found at the ICARE official site: www.ICAREforPets.org.

“This is a great way to support pets in need and enter the drawing for a one-of-a-kind, awesome quilt,” enthused ICARE’s Lisa Schade.

Questions about the quilt or raffle: call Linda Kimball, 760-873-4921.

I love the dentist!

Local dentists Drs. Sansom and Schrager have teamed up with Mammoth Elementary School to offer children free dental checkups.

All parents with children entering Kindergarten next school year are invited to bring their child to one of two free dental checkup events at the Mammoth Elementary School on Friday, March 5 from 6-8 pm and again on Saturday, March 6 from 9-11 am.

Call First 5 Mono County at 760.924.7626 for more information.
