INYO FOREST UPDATES

Inyo National Forest officials have announced the agency plans to open the paved road into the Reds Meadow Valley to the public on Friday, June 18, with shuttle operations beginning on Saturday June 19.

More info on what’s available at each special day use area: visit the Mono Basin Scenic Area Visitor Center just north of Lee Vining, 760.647.3044, or the temporary Bristlecone Pine Visitor Contact Station at Schulman Grove, 760.873.2500.

Additional info: contact the Mammoth Lakes Welcome Center, 760.924.5500 and press 0.

NOT OUR FIRST RODEO

CHSRA Rodeo Buttons are now available at the Bishop Chamber of Commerce. For just a $20 donation, you’ll get admission to all 2010 CHSRA Performances, June 14-19 – plus, wearing the button is a great way to show your support for the event!

Three hundred or so of California’s best cowboys & cowgirls plus families, friends and fans will converge in Bishop for the CHSRA State Finals Championship. Bishop has hosted the event since 2005.

The chamber provides welcome “goody bags” for each cowboy & cowgirl filled with small gifts, promotional items, coupons and treats donated by area merchants. The chamber also gives each contestant a commemorative t-shirt and hosts the welcome barbecue dinner for the kids and their families. Chamber volunteers help with check-in, ticket sales and other event staffing.

For more information or to volunteer, call Tawni @ 760.873.8405, ext. 5.

The McDonald’s Literacy Nights program continues over the next three Thursdays.

Registration is required. Call Lis Mazzu @ 760.784.5461.
