The 2010 Tioga Pass Run celebrated its 30th anniversary this year. The race was held on Sept. 12 and there were 106 entrants.

Olympic runner and Mammoth resident Ryan Hall set a new course record, besting the old record by 7:44 with his time of 1:20:57. Not too far behind him was Bishop local Dan Yarborough with a time of 1:33:54.

The first female finisher was Lee Vining’s Rebecca Sopp with a time of 1:51:50, and Michael Walecke was the youngest finisher at age 14, also of Lee Vining.

Bill Dickey of Arcadia, Calif., was presented a lifetime achievement award for the most Tioga Pass Run races. Dickey has only missed two of the 30 races.

The race covers 12.4 miles and is touted to have only one hill … a hill that continually climbs for the entire race.

Out of the 106 entrants, 100 participated and 99 finished.
