LaRouche Political Action Committee says Obama’s insane

“Hey man, can I get a picture of you in front of  your sign?” I asked “Eric Thomas” (the name I was given and largely doubt).

“What? Is this for the news?” he asked.

“Yes.” Looking at me with a sense of distrust he asked, “Okay, which one?”

“The Sheet,” I respond.

“Alright, but I don’t really want any attention.” I look at him slightly baffled. Pointing at his sign that depicts President Obama with a Hitler mustache, I say, “But you have a sign reading ‘Impeach Obama’ on Main Street? Anyway, why do you want him impeached?”

“Actually, we don’t want him impeached anymore. Our focus has changed.” Now I’m really confused. “We want him out faster than that. We want him [removed from office] in a day,” he says to me with confidence.

“So you plan on using the 25th Amendment?”

Surprised, Thomas reacts, “How do you know about the 25th Amendment?”

“It’s not a secret. The 25th amendment is part of the Constitution and it’s public knowledge.”

Thomas then elaborates. “Most people don’t know about the 25th Amendment. I think he’s clinically insane and unfit for office, so he should be removed,”

Thinking about this for a moment, and ignoring the fact that he must love Vice President Joe Biden (who would then take over in Obama‘s absence), I respond, “Well, you know that before the president-elect gets sworn into office, he has to go through a rigorous health exam, right? So how do you know he’s insane?”

“He is! HE is insane. He is a clinical narcissist.”

“So that makes him insane?”

Frustrated, Thomas says, “Listen, I’m not trying to argue with you about facts. Just go to our website. Everything you need to know is there.”

“Okay, but you know you have a sign on Main St. that has Obama sporting a Hitler ‘stache. People might want to argue.”

We were then interrupted by a honking car horn and a prominent middle finger displayed by the driver.

Later that day, I decided to check out the recommended website, www.LaRouchePAC.com. However, while looking at the website, I found no actual facts on why they feel Obama is “insane.” The site only states, “The debate is not necessary, throw him out and be done with it; the principle and relevant evidence on behalf of the 25th Amendment will be sufficient. Just do it quickly.”

The website is paid for by the Lyndon LaRouche Political Action Committee. This is the same Lyndon LaRouche who ran for president 7 times, denies the severity of the Holocaust and stated that the real masterminds of the September 11 attacks were, in fact, not Al Qaeda, but “Military Utopians.”

To say the least, LaRouche has a history of being outspoken. In 1982, he attacked President Richard Nixon’s former Secretary of State, Henry Kissinger, calling him a “fag” in a press release titled, “Kissenger: The Politics of Faggotry.” In a 1986 interview with the Los Angeles Times, he stated that HIV can be spread through “casual contact.” Then, in a 1989 television spot said that the “safe sex” campaign was simply “propaganda put out by the government to avoid addressing the real crisis.” Larouche was also quoted in a Chicago Sun Times article pointing out that all HIV patients should be quarantined.

LaRouche and company wanting Obama impeached drips with irony. Without a doubt, Thomas’s sign was eye-popping to many last Tuesday, but even local conservatives weren’t falling head over heels for it. Several local Republicans told The Sheet, that they were offended by similar caricatures portraying George W. Bush with a Hitler ‘stache. All found this equally offensive.

Regardless of political affiliation, political activism will always be healthy whether it’s for the left wing, right wing … or the middle finger. And it’s great to see people getting involved. However, if the cornerstone of that activism is based on creating paranoia through false hysteria then you’re not doing anyone a favor. LaRouche and Thomas remind us of two things: 1) Mr. Obama looks awful with a mustache, and more important 2) if there’s one thing we’ve learned from Adolf Hitler, it’s that fear-mongering is the easiest way to get elected. Perhaps LaRouche hopes the 8th time is the charm.

Everyone has a right to their opinion. Unfortunately that doesn’t make you sane or correct. Keep fear mongering people….. If that sign had Bush on it the people holding it would be ridiculed and called “un-American.” None of the right wing nuts seem to remember two important things said during Obama’s election… #1 “I can’t fix everything in one term… probably not even two. It’s going to take time to fix what has been done over the last 8 years” #2 When John McCain lost, he said “He is my President too now, and I will respect him”

give him a chance and some respect damn it. Majority of the country wanted him in office so get over it.
