Acclaimed television and film actor, Beau Bridges, comes to Mammoth’s Edison Theatre on Saturday, March 26 for the reading of the action-adventure play K2. Volunteering his time to support arts and culture in the Eastern Sierra, Bridges came to know and love the area while filming the 1975 movie The Other Side of the Mountain.
“Some Hollywood experiences are long lasting. And this was one of them,” said Mammoth Lakes Foundation’s Artistic Director Shira Dubrovner, of Bridges’ time in the Eastern Sierra. “Beau developed a relationship with the area and is a long-time friend of Jill Kinmont. He’s a down-to-earth actor and we can’t thank him enough for supporting the arts in Mammoth.”
Bridges is also known for outstanding roles in The Fabulous Baker Boys, My Name is Earl, and Brothers and Sisters. When the actor comes to Edison Theatre on March 26 he will be reading Patrick Meyers’ play K2, an intense mountain thriller that it inspired a motion picture. Performing with Bridges will be his nephew Marcel Lloyd and his daughter Emily Bridges.
The evening starts at 6 p.m. with drinks and hors d’oeuvres followed by a raffle. Proceeds from the event benefit the Mammoth Lakes Foundation in support of higher education and the arts in the Eastern Sierra.
