Page 2: The rest of the airport hiring story

So I run into Pat Foster at the Norco station last Friday morning. Foster is the G.M. of Hot Creek Aviation and sat on the interview panel which recommended the hiring of William Bauman for the Mammoth/Yosemite Airport Maintenance Coordinator position.

That hiring was ultimately placed on hold to review the interview process – this coming after the revelation that Bauman is the likely future son-in-law of Councilman John Eastman.

Sheet: So Pat, c’mon, you can tell me. No one’s listening … was this kid really the best candidate or did you just go along with it to make everyone happy?

Foster said that it was a toss-up between Bauman and one other candidate and he really would have been happy with either selection.

Sheet: But was he as experienced as some of the other candidates?

No. In fact, Foster said one candidate was a former airport manager on the west side of the Sierra. The problem with a lot of the other candidates was that they were too overqualified for what he considers to be an entry-level type of job.

The issue, it appears, is that the Town wrote a pretty lousy job description which didn’t adequately explain what it was really looking for.

And Eastman driving Bauman to the interview certainly didn’t help. As Foster said, “I wouldn’t have even known there was a connection,” if Bauman had arrived by himself.

Foster thinks that some of the canidates were too over qualified! Give me a break! So how does it make sense Mr. Foster to hire someone with no airport experiance and no equip. operating experiance, (when those two things were cleary in the job description) over someone who I personally know that has 5 years airport experiance AND equip. operating experiance?! This local canidate wasn’t even given an interview, let alone an aknowledgement that he had even applied for the job. Lets waste town funds and time on someone with no experiance when this canidate could have sailed right in with barley any training. Great idea!! Hmmmmm, I think I spy another one of Manning’s puppets coming to light! Oh and one more question maybe the sheet could answer…Why was Foster even on the interview panel in the first place?! He is not a town of mammoth employee so why would he have a say on who the town hires? Sounds like Manning chose another one of his “yes” men to be on the panel so that his political favors could go off without a hitch. Thank you “Sheet” for bringing this sham to light and for helping to put a stop to the ridiculous politics going on at the Mammoth airport. Maybe this next go around for the job will have the correct personnel on the interview pannel instead of Manning’s “friends” who will agree with anything he wants. How much longer is Manning going to get to do whatever he feels like with no consequences? Can we get rid of him already!? Lets give the local canidates who already live here and have families here a chance!!
