Watercolor workshop
“Tenaya Creek” (Watercolor by Sweeney)
Nationally known artist Teri Sweeney will be offering a four-day watercolor workshop in Mammoth from Aug. 11-14.
In the workshop, students will practice skills and techniques used to successfully paint a watercolor landscape that includes elements such as trees, grass, water and mountains. The first day will include a field trip to photograph a Mammoth scene and talk about creating an appealing composition in the photograph. The rest of the workshop will be held in Edison Hall, 100 College Parkway, where Teri will demonstrate technique. A photo reference and drawing of a Mammoth scene will be provided so that students can concentrate on watercolor technique rather than drawing. The cost of this workshop, which is sponsored by the Mono Council for the Arts, is $350.
Sweeney has been teaching watercolor classes in her home town of Gardnerville, Nev. and workshops in Arizona, Hawaii and Nevada for the past six years. In the past year, she has been nationally recognized as a western artist with sales of her artwork in shows such as the CM Russell Art Auction in Great Falls, Mont.; the Panhandle Plains Historical Museum Invitational Western Art Show and Sale in Canyon, Texas; and the San Dimas National Western Art Exhibition and Sale in San Dimas, Calif.
