First ever Mammoth Mud Run
Last Saturday’s first-ever Mammoth Mud Run will hopefully be the beginning of an annual tradition. Hosted by Mammoth Mountain Ski Area, the event was a 6k, obstacle-filled, fun time. Running up Canyon Boulevard as well as up the ski slopes near Chair 16 was no joke, and participants truly tested their endurance at more than 8,000 feet.
The ski hill turned out to be the perfect place for a muddy good time as racers charged through settling ponds that were waist deep, crawled under and clambered over huge logs, and slid down a soapy slide.
The final obstacle at the finish line was a very fitting pile of snow that participants had to climb up and over, reminding everyone that with Mammoth’s record 2010/11 season, there’s still plenty of the white stuff to spread around.
After making it through the finish, racers were treated to “showers” with MMSA’s own snowmaking equipment.
A great event with signature Mammoth flair.
