“Tebow, Tebow,” the crowd chanted. And the franchise listened. And now they pay. Did you see that Tim Tebow performance last week against Detroit? You had to. You watched even though you didn’t want to, because everyone talked about it all week before the game. And to hear all the pundits on TV saying how Tebow could will the Broncos to a win or a close game was laughable. Clearly none of these so-called analysts, experts and other TV jackasses ever listen to their shows afterward. It would be too embarrassing.
By the start of the 4th quarter, Tebow was 8 for 26 for 85 yards. The Lions had returned both a fumble and an interception for a score. The only reason he ended up with 170 yards passing was because the Broncos threw the ball like crazy in the 4th quarter because they were so far behind. Tebow averaged more yards per rush than he did per pass.
Now, Carolina’s Cam Newton is the guy you want as a rookie QB. He is showing signs of greatness, and yeah I know he’s got some interception issues and a few fumbles here and there, but he’ll learn and improve. Tebow can’t throw, read defenses, play under center or from the shotgun. He has NOTHING.
But it started with the Broncos owner being dumb enough to hire Josh McDaniels as a coach and GM. The next problem was actually letting him draft Tebow in the first round. I told you the Broncos had made a monumental mistake and now everyone knows it. When McDaniels had the Broncos at 6-0 in 2009, no one saw this coming? With all the ridiculous moves he made: Jay Cutler traded, Brandon Marshall traded, picks traded? But now they see it. ‘Cause it is in their faces.
No foresight at all. McDaniels did some of the same stupid stuff Bill Belichick is doing, but at least Belichick has his first 6 or 7 years to live off of.
Speaking of which, that New England defense is terrible. They still don’t have a pass rush, despite 12 draft picks last year. Their best pass rusher now is Andre Carter. What is he, like, 40 and on his 4th team? Look at the record folks, terrible draft picks and then free agent pickups to cover it up: Carter, Randy Moss, Chad Ochocinco, Albert Haynesworth. Where have all the good Pats gone? Where?
Select picks this week …
Bills 30, Jets 17. I think the Bills will fall apart eventually, but the Rex “Jabba the Hutt” Ryan’s Jets suck. Plaxico Burress had 3 TDs and only about 4 catches a couple weeks ago, and is one good hit away from pulling every muscle and missing the rest of the season.
Browns 9, Texans 20. If you like this game, you probably like watching midget porn, too.
Niners 20, Skins 3. The Skins are a disaster. Rex Grossman is collecting splinters on the bench and John Beck is the starting QB. And after last week, the only thing saving him from media scorn was the ineptitude of “Jesus” Tebow. And they haven’t hit bottom yet. The Niners, don’t fool me either. Good teams will stop the run and make QB Alex Smith throw; then it will all be over.
Bucs 16 Saints 33. When the Bucs score more than 17 points, throw them a parade. But not this week.
Dolphins upset Chiefs 20-13. They still suck, but the Dolphins got close last week. They are hungry and pissed off, and eventually even a crackhead has his day.
Bengals 23, Titans 16. Where are the Matt Hasselbeck fans? One quick cut from his back going out and his season being over. Bengals have a very good defense. And Receiver A.J. Green is trying to make me look bad by being so good.
Broncos 4 Raiders 20. If you want to see two bad QBS, watch this one. The Raiders should be able to run, but Carson Palmer will stink up the joint so bad Tebow might have a shot at some 4th quarter drama. Palmer’s dumbass gives up two safeties.
Giants 27 Pats 24. New York can get pressure with their D line and still have coverage to beat up the Pats WRs.
Cards 21 Rams 23. Won’t bother with a bunch of analysis. But answer this: where are all the people who praised the Cards for giving up a first-round pick and Antonio Cromartie and about $10 million a year for Kevin [Corn on The] Kolb, and then basically gave the Cards the NFC West title and a shot at the Super Bowl? Oh, that’s right. They’re on TV making 100 times what I make.
Packers 33 Chargers 17. Pop quiz: name a great Charger D player. Trick question. You can’t. They had talent, but the front office has depleted the team. Drew Brees left. Michael Turner left. L.T. left. No picks, the team gets nothing for their talent. AND they have Norv Turner at coach.
Steelers 30 Ravens 16, The Steelers are old and slow, but Baltimore’s Joe Flacco is a bum.
Bears 23 Eagles 16. The Eagles can’t stop the run, and are who we thought they were: OVERRATED.
