Bringing justice to a small town, one dinner at a time
It’s that time of year again, when MMSA opens for the season and some local actor is summarily murdered as a sacrifical rite.
Sierra Classic Theatre’s thirteenth annual Murder Mystery Dinner Fundraiser will be staged at Tamarack Lodge and Tom’s Place Nov. 13-17.
Last year’s interactive show, “Deadly Mountain High: The Rehab Murder Mystery,” skewered both local and Hollywood culture. This year’s “Out of Commission” will tackle real estate and town politics, with a crime scene at a chamber mixer hosted by a real estate company with “killer” competition in the town of Bloody Mountain.
“Success is all about who you know,” the tag line reads, “but secrets are hard to keep in a small town… and knowing too much can KILL your reputation.”
Said Director Holly Alpert, “The author of this year’s script is anonymous, I think because the story is based upon some real-life experiences.” It’s anyone’s guess who among the humorous cast of characters is ripped from reality; the chamber mixer will feature local personalities like the town weatherman, tattoo parlor/dispensary owner, several realtors and a former prostitute.
As usual, half the fun will be in taking Mammoth to town for its quirks, and half the fun will be in solving an undoubtedly shocking murder.
Founded in 1999, Sierra Classic Theatre offers shows in Mammoth and the surrounding Eastside communities with the help of volunteers both on- and off-stage. The annual Murder Mystery Dinner, a local’s favorite, is the Theatre’s primary source of financing. All proceeds will go toward supporting community productions in the year to come.
Shows start at 7 p.m. Nov. 13-17 only. Ticket prices include dinner and entertainment. RSVP ASAP: Sun./Mon./Tues. at Lakefront Restaurant at Tamarack Lodge (760.934.2442). Wed./Thurs. at Tom’s Place (760.935.4239).
