Digital 395 update

  • by Andy Geisel

Following groundbreaking just a few weeks ago, Praxis CEO Michael Ort told The Sheet that the Digital 395 broadband infrastructure project is under construction in a number of locations. Ort said that roughly 15 miles have already been installed in Barstow, and in Mono County, Praxis expects to have joined Bridgeport and Coleville by the end of September.

From there, work will start on the Nevada terminal side of the project, and he said Praxis is working to get everything in place to begin heading south of Bridgeport in a few weeks. Ort went on to explain that the team has the ability to work with a certain amount of snow, and barring no unforseen severe geologic or weather anomalies, is on track to “meet expectations and deadlines.” The route, he said, is entirely engineered, and all permits and clearances are signed with state, federal  and most Native American agencies.   Work continues avoiding cultural and archeologically sensitive areas ahead of construction, and only some final paperwork is being completed with several municipalities.
