MHS Basketball wins opener
The Mammoth High School Boys’ Basketball team won its season opener on Wednesday evening, besting Big Pine by a 38-19 count.
Fox Kailiawa scored the first nine points of the game for Mammoth and finished with 15 overall.
Liam Carrigan chipped in 10 for the Huskies, who led by 20 after three periods.
Starting point guard Cole Presson did not play, as he has been sidelined with a broken collarbone sustained during football season. He was medically cleared to play Thursday.
As backup point guard E.J. Banda was sick yesterday, sophomore Steven Orrick was called up from the J.V. team and Asst. Coach Robbie Presson said he played very well.
Mammoth’s home opener against Big Pine is this coming Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. at the MHS Gym. They will then play Lee Vining at home on Thursday.
