“Oblivion” premiere
See “Oblivioin” with Tom Cruise, which was filmed in June Lake last summer, at a special local premiere screening on Friday, April 19, at the Minaret Cinemas. Doors open @ 6 p.m. Tickets are $15, and include the movie and appetizers. Beer & wine sold separately. Pick up tickets at the Minaret Cinemas Will-Call window. There will be drawings for prizes and paraphernalia from the movie, and a special introduction before the movie and sharing of stories from the filming experience in June Lake. Proceeds benefit June Lake Chamber of Commerce.

Hospital Auxiliary Scholarship
Mammoth Hospital Auxiliary has scholarships for college students pursuing medical or medically-related careers. And this year, the application period open, but not for much longer. Applications are now available at the Mono County Library front desk in Mammoth Lakes, at the Mammoth Hospital Admission Window and at the Cast Off Cashier’s Desk.
Applications are due by April 30. Awards are issued for the current academic year only, and may not be postponed or reserved for future use. Proof of attendance will be required. If currently attending classes, attach transcripts, even partial ones. Questions: Suzanne Stokes, 760.934.5645.
Pleine Aire art on display
The Mammoth Lakes Library’s Randol Reading Room has a new art display of works from 14 local artists from the Eastern Sierra Pleine Aire Painters Group. Sponsored by Friends of the Library, the show, which covers three of the room’s walls, will be on exhibit through May. Works are for sale at reasonable prices, too.

Manzanar Annual Pilgrimage
The 44th Annual Manzanar Pilgrimage is scheduled for noon on Saturday, April 27, at the Manzanar National Historic Site, located on U.S. 395 in California’s Owens Valley, between the towns of Lone Pine and Independence, approximately 230 miles north of Los Angeles.
The popular Manzanar At Dusk program follows that same evening, from 5-8 p.m. at the Lone Pine High School gymnasium, located at 538 South Main Street (U.S. 395), in Lone Pine, nine miles south of the Manzanar National Historic Site, across the street from McDonald’s.

MHS Football’s Troutbowl 2013
Mammoth High School Football presents TROUTBOWL 2013, a 50/50 format, $20 buy-in competition with cash on the line for the three biggest fish caught in Mono County! Enter April 20 through April 27 at 5 a.m. sharp. Scales open at 5 a.m. and close at 6 p.m. on April 27. Be punctual!
Official Entry and weigh in stations are at Ernie’s Tackle Shop, Silver Lake Resort, Gull Lake Marina and June Lake Marina in June Lake, Rick’s Sporting Goods in Mammoth Lakes, the Convict Lake General Store, and the Crowley Lake Fish Camp and Crowley Lake Store in Crowley Lake.

School fundraisers
Mammoth Middle School will hold a “Dine Out” fundraiser on Tuesday, April 30, at Roberto’s. All proceeds from the “Dine Out” go to Mammoth Middle School students for their Museum of Tolerance trip in May.
