Will Inyo get the shaft?

Shot from the air of a road leading up to Conglomerate Mesa.

SSR Mining, a publicly traded Canadian company, has received a permit to explore for gold in Conglomerate Mesa.

If they find it, they will seek approval from the BLM to mine a site at Conglomerate Mesa (in southern Inyo near Death Valley).

The type of gold they are likely to find is Carlin Gold.

It’s microscopic and embedded in pyrite, which tends to be found in limestone deposits.

To extract Carlin Gold, SSR would have to build an open pit cyanide heap leach mine.

Currently there are seven wells drilled to a depth of 400 feet.
