A BATTLE OF WILLS

Kevin Carunchio announced his retirement as Inyo County Admin- strative Officer (CAO) on June 12.

Despite the fact that the County has hired an Executive Search firm to recruit a replacement, and despite the fact that Carunchio has an- nounced a tentative retirement date (end of October), there are a whole lot of people (most of whom work for Inyo County) who don’t actually believe it.

Perhaps it’s because the announced resignation, in their eyes, has not led to a kinder, gentler Carunchio.

He’s as brash and hard-charging and unapologetic as ever. He thrives on combat and it’s hard to imagine him walking away.

The people who do believe it are Carunchio’s bosses, the Inyo County Board of Supervisors, and his wife Pam Foster.
