No serious injuries to cast involved
A weather-related auto accident on U.S. 395 on Saturday, March 17 forced the cancellation of the final performances of “Tuesdays With Morrie,” at the Edison Theatre in Mammoth Lakes. According to his post on Facebook, Marcus Nobreus, who co-starred with Bob Struckman, wrote a note to the public describing what happened:
“To my Mammoth Friends. Unfortunately we had to cancel the last two performances of Tuesdays With Morrie. We had a serious car accident [Saturday night] on our way to the performance in Mammoth and the four of us were taken to the Emergency Room at Mammoth Hospital. We are all okay, but some severe neck and head pain is preventing us from doing the show today, Sunday.
Our small Nissan Pickup truck was totaled, the camper shell flung 30 feet away from our car, as we were rear-ended by a full-size pickup truck. We were in a whiteout, just by the airport, and had slowed our speed to almost a standstill, when the truck hit us, most likely doing full highway speed.”
While no serious injuries resulted from the collision, Nobreus posted a word of caution about driving in winter storm conditions, “Please be careful when there are white-out conditions, the whiteout was very sudden, and the truck came crashing into us with no warning whatsoever. We are all very grateful to still be alive and walking.”
A heavy storm hit the Eastern Sierra on March 17 dropping several feet of snow in a 24-hour period.
