Extra time to comment on Ormat’s Casa Diablo IV

During public comment at the Jan. 8 Mammoth Lakes Recreation Commission meeting, Mammoth Lakes Trails and Public Access Executive Director John Wentworth mentioned the additional time added for the public to comment on Ormat’s Casa Diablo CD-4 geothermal plant installation planned for Shady Rest Park.

Wentworth addressed how to plan for solutions to potential issues for both summer and winter user groups. “If anything happens at Shady Rest, the Town doesn’t have the money to deal with it,” he pointed out. “We can’t cover every contingency, but should anything happen, a funding mechanism needs to be in place to cover it.”

To discuss the idea in more detail, Wentworth is organizing a stakeholders and user group public meeting on Monday, Jan. 14, at 2 p.m. in the Mammoth Library.
