DIAL “M” FOR MURDER!

Mammoth Lakes Repertory Theatre Artistic Director Shira Dubrovner plans to make MLRT’s first show of 2011 a real killer, and is audtioning cast members for the classic whodunit, “Dial M For Murder!”

Dubrovner is seeking 5 men, ages 25-65, and 1 woman, age 25-35. Auditions are this Sunday, Jan. 30, and Monday, Jan. 31, at 6 p.m. each evening at the Edison Theatre, 100 College Parkway, across from Cerro Coso College. ESLT VOLUNTEERS

Eastern Sierra Land Trust will hold its next Volunteer Orientation, Feb. 5 from 10 a.m.- 2 p.m. The future of the Eastern Sierra’s open spaces depends on ESLT’s ability to build community support and involvement. Join ESLT for a session discussing how you can get involved in preserving vital lands in the Eastern Sierra.

Orientation is for both existing and new volunteers to become more informed about the work of ESLT and volunteer opportunities in 2011. Lunch provided. To sign up and for more info, contact Hillary Behr at hillary@eslt.org or call 760.873.4554.

ESNSA JR. X-C EVENTS

Eastern Sierra Nordic Ski Association (ESNSA) and California/Nevada Interscholastic Ski & Snowboard Federation (CNISSF) Mammoth Classic is on Friday, Feb. 4. Tamarack Ski Center will host more than 200 junior racers. High School races start at 11 a.m.; Middle School races start at 12:30 p.m.

On Sunday, Feb. 6, the Allan Bard Memorial Classic, a Junior Nationals qualifier, kicks off at 10 a.m. @ the Pack Station. More info/to volunteer: call the Ski Center, 760.934.2442, ext. 8. ESNSA is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization. Info: log on to esnsa.org.

MLFD TOP FIREFIGHTER

The Mammoth Lakes Firefighter Association celebrated another year of community service during December.  In addition to several awards that were provided deserving members, Jose Garcia was named Firefighter of the Year. Each year a group of previously selected members evaluates members and their actions throughout their careers and determines who exemplifies the characteristics most desirable of the title. Garcia, 49, has been with the Mammoth Fire Dept. since 1994.

LITTLE LEAGUE: PLAY BALL

Mono County Little League invites all baseball players ages 4 – 15 to register for 2011 Spring Baseball. Walk-in and register on Feb. 1 in Lee Vining at the Elementary School from 5:30-7:30 p.m., and on Feb. 3 in Mammoth in the Mammoth Mall Conference Room, 2nd Floor of the offices next to the Chart House, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. each evening.
