Mammoth AYSO’s U-12 soccer teams played in the fourth annual Shamrock Showdown soccer tournament, March 9-10, in Palmdale. Team players include Luis Vaca, Joel Guillen, Liam Bassler, Jose Alejandre, Ari Schuldt, Chiquis Lemus, Alexis Hernandex, Danny Garcia, Alberto Quintana, Alexis Molina, Jared Mahler, Jimmie McBride and Gerardo Morales. They are coached by Felipe Alejandre and Roger Mahler, with Juan Garcia and David Bassler.

The U-12 division was divided into 3 flights. Top teams from each flight advanced to the medal round. Mammoth played Palmdale, Canyon Country and Torrance, the birthplace of AYSO.

On the first day, Mammoth’s first knocked off Canyon Country, posting a 3-1 win, and then beat Palmdale handily 6-1.

On Sunday morning, Mammoth played Torrance, taking the early lead with two quick goals in the first quarter. Torrance only managed a single goal, giving Mammoth the 2-1 victory.

In the Sunday Medal round, Torrance and Mammoth again squared off in the final. With 8 minutes to play, Torrance scored the only goal of the game, winning 1-0.

AYSO’s next games will be Saturdays April 6 through May 11 in the spring Toiyabe League.
