Mammoth Rotary clubs host Peruvian visitors
The Mammoth Lakes Noon and Sunrise Clubs hosted five members of a Rotary Group Study Exchange (GSE) visiting from Peru from May 24 until May 28. The GSE Program exchanges young professionals aged 25 to 40 from different Rotary Districts in different countries. Four young professionals from a district in Peru are spending 30 days in California visiting various clubs in the district. Mammoth Lakes is in the northern portion of District 5260. The purpose of the exchange is both cultural and vocational. The young professionals meet with people from the same vocation while on their tour along with experience the culture of their host country.
The Peruvian team consisted of Team Leader Heber Saaverde, a professor; Carmen Moreno, an attorney; Leonardo Rosas, a marketer and television producer; Christian Garcia, a rancher and professor; and Victor Jara, a surgeon. During their visit, the team made presentations to both the Noon and Sunrise clubs, skied on Mammoth Mountain, toured other sites such as Convict and Mono Lakes and Bodie, and attended dinners hosted by local Rotarians. They also attended a dinner honoring the members of the Mammoth High School Interact Club.
The local hosts for the visiting team were Sheryl Saari, Tony and Sherryl Taylor, Byng and Joanne Hunt, Jerry and Trish Dunlap, and Dan and Kathy Watson. –Press Release
